Shiver by the River 5K/10K: Muhlenburg Township, PA

The Shiver by the River 5k/10k road race in Muhlenburg Township, PA is unique in multiple ways: 1) it is a winter racing series that takes place the 1st Sunday of each winter month, 2) homemade chicken noodle soup is offered to everyone at the finish line, and 3) you could decide as you finish the 5k loop whether to stop or be insane enough to do another 5k loop through a rolling hill neighborhood (and funny enough, there are no rivers nearby). Patrick and Mary decided to run due to the unseasonably warm weather conditions and their desires to start their New Years Resolution on getting back into shape. Patrick raced to lower his 10k PR, which he EASILY accomplished, running an unofficial 47:08. While Mary was hoping to run for fun, she surprised herself in lowering her 10k PR as well, completing the two loops in 56:11 unofficially. What a good way to start the new year!
