Save the Bay Swim! Newport to Jamestown - the hard way

For the first time in 21 years of NACHO participation, team NACHO officially fielded a team for the Save the Bay Swim!  This event is a 1.7 mile swim (which gets longer depending on how bad the current is) from Newport to Jamestown that raises money for the Save the Bay organization.  Joe completed his 21st consecutive swim, battling some pretty fierce current and just missing his goal time.  Brian had a tough time, getting caught in the current and contesting with some pretty bad leg cramps from the 10 mile road race the night before.  Anne completed the swim without having to get towed in by her kayaker John, but managed to swim through a field of jellyfish on the way.  A huge cheering section awaited them at the finish, and they all enjoyed Dels lemonade when it was all said and done.  Great job NACHO!

Blessing of the Fleet 10M: Narragansett RI

Great job to Grant, Brian and Anne who all ran PRs for the 10 mile at the 41st annual Blessing of the Fleet! The trio battled traffic down/up to Rhode Island (a meetup of the midatlantic and boston chapters!) for this event, which draws some of the fastest runners of the area (we're talking about you, Matty P!). After a 30 minute delay due to incredible rain, the gun went off and the runners ran down to the beach, greeted by an amazing rainbow! 10 miles later they were all celebrating with some Kingston Pizza! Not a bad way to start the weekend!

Jerry Garcia 5K: Cambridge MA

Great job to the NACHOs who raced at the Jerry Garcia 5K!  Welcome back to Jason who took some (much needed) time off to heal from injury - great job out there!  And welcome back to Meg - good to see you in an orange singlet again!

We have changed the process in which we are distributing NACHO gear such as singlet, t-shirts and drinking shirts. We will be doing bulk ordering 4 times per year, so insure that we have gear ready for big team events.
The next team event is the Oktoberfest 5K in Kendall Square, Cambridge on Oct 14th. We will be taking orders for NACHO gear until Wednesday Sept 26th.
Singlets are $25
Dri-fit shirts are $25
Drinking shirts (cotton) are $10
Email nachorunning@gmail.com anytime between now and then.  Once the deadline has passed we will re-open the google checkout for people to pay online.  Thanks!
(we have some inventory now, so if we have your size in stock we will get you the gear asap!)

Jim Kane Sugarbowl 5K

Great job to the NACHOs who ventured down to "southie" to race this flat, fast 5K.  Both Brian and Anne ran 5K PRs, and Anne won her division.  Jeff wasn't scared off by the NACHO crew at the VERT race and returned for more, happy to have him run with the team for a second time!  He ran fast, then ran off to celebrate with champagne!  :-)  And Mike drove like a nascar driver to get to the race on time, only to be pulled over by one of Massachusetts' finest making an illegal turn leaving the race...thankfully, his sweet talking left him with a warning, no ticket!

VERT Trail Run

Another epic event for NACHO AC! With 26 runners, NACHO tore up the 2.4 Mile trail run in full force: largest team at the event and most NACHO runners EVER for a NACHO Athletic event! Cambridge 5K organizer Eddie knows how to put on a great race - great course, awesome beer and a fun atmosphere! John, Curt and Katie were the top three NACHOs across the line, and their times (and the rest of the team's enthusiasm) lead to a first place (?) finish for the team! (some conflicting results after the fact are confusing some, but we feel like winners on the inside!).
Hope that many of the friends of NACHO who raced with us return for another event! The more the merrier!

JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge

The NACHOs braved the heat and the CROWDS (10982 RUNNERS!!!) to represent their respective companies in the Corporate Challenge. Everyone ran awesome despite the mobs of people!! Many of the NACHOs ended up at the Beacon Hill Pub afterwards, where it was determined that a bar basketball shootout game might need to be rented for the next beirut tournament!
