Run to Remember 13.1M: Boston MA

Congrats to the brave NACHOs who battled the heat to run this welcome to summer event in Boston. Ponying up to the big race (a 5M is offered as well), these NACHOs conquered the shade-less streets of Boston/Cambridge and finished strong! A welcome and congrats to Kate for running her first race in the NACHO organge and white!

Harpoon 5M: Boston MA

A HUGE CONGRATS to the two NACHO teams, "NACHO Cheese" and "NACHO Beer" for their impressive showings today at the Harpoon 5 Miler in Boston, MA. NACHO Cheese won the entire team competition, finishing 1st out of 155 teams, and NACHO beer finished an impressive 8th out of an incredibly strong field. Jess dominated, earning a 6 pack and bronze medal mug for finishing 3rd in her age group! A big NACHO welcome to John for making his NACHO debut!

Congrats guys - welcome to the big leagues!

Run for Rachel 5K: Livingston, NJ

NACHO superstar, John Ahearn, contiues to be the enthusiastic comic relief of the Mid Atlantic Chapter - not to mention a PR machine! Check out his account of another successful NACHO outing!

"So after running back-to-back Sat/Sun 5K's the weekend the NACHO's came down to Duc's (the first time I'd ever done back-to-back races) with great times in both races, I wanted to test myself and top my best time. I ran a 29:03 in April of 2010, and I knew I was back to that form, if not beyond. I found the Run for Rachel in Livingston, NJ, and after driving the course during the week I told myself I was gonna PR that bastard. Anything under 29 minutes was gonna be good enough for me, but I blazed it better than I could have ever expected, finishing at 27:50 (official chip time was 28:10, results linked below, but I'm a regular back of the pack starter, so I know I crossed the start line at the :20 mark). Feel free to paraphrase that however it makes sense to you, I'm actually quite intoxicated as write this..."

Blues Run 4.2M

13 NACHOs came to play for the opening of the Charles River Summer race series in Cambridge! Too bad that there isn't a team competition for fastest group AND best dressed - these runners would have won the whole thing! With new NACHOs making their debuts and others setting PRs, this was a very successful event! With four more races coming up in the series, this is going to be a great summer!!!

Mad Dash 5K

What a clash of the NACHO chapters! Jaime, Brian and Anne made the trip to the diiiiirrrtyy Jerzzzz...to meet up with the Mid Atlantic crowd for a really great little 5k. John suggested this fun jaunt through an office park which provided a rolling course and nice wide roads for the NACHOs to dominate. Anne and Jaime churned out top 10 finishes, and Grant, Tom and John made their NACHO debuts! A big thanks to Anne Z for her awesome photo skills!

ps: a lot to be said for the running after the shenanigans the night before!

Nashville Country Music Half Marathon

The CHI Nachos traveled to Nashville for the country music half marathon on April 30th, some by air and some by car! Friday night was pretty low-key as we all arrived and prepared for the race. Saturday morning, we got up bright and early, hit the hotel's continental breakfast, and meandered the quarter of a mile between our hotel and the starting line.

The race went well for the entire NACHO team! The weather was great, and though the course was hilly, we all powered through. Josh even won 2nd place!! After the race, we grabbed free beer and munchies and met Ryan Hall who was there for a promotion. Some of us got free copies of his book, and he and Josh waxed nostalgic about their high school running days (they raced each other!). Josh's stellar finish got us all VIP passes to the Patron Platinum Concert for a pre-party before the post-race concert. It was a blast!

James Joyce 10K: Dedham, MA

Free beer! Here come the NACHOs...
For a second year the NACHOs traveled south from Cambridge to Dedham to run the hilly, yet beautiful James Joyce Ramble. In it's 28th year, this fun event doesn't disappoint with spectators dressed in "period costumes" reading James Joyce along the race course. Nothing like a little "Ulysses" to get you motivated to run, huh? Well done NACHOs, with Anne setting another PR in the 10K!
