Boston Marathon!

Wow, what a hot day for the marathoners! Upwards of 90 degrees on the course!! Yikes!!

A huge congratulations to Kate Bryant and Theresa Connolly for running in the heat! Both ladies ran for charities (MS Society and Liver Foundation, respectively), and posted very impressive times given the sweltering conditions! Kate flew across the finish in a blazing 4:53:31, and Theresa sneaked in just ahead of her in 4:50:55!

Amazing job ladies, we're all proud of you! :-)

BAA 5K: Boston MA

Congrats to the NACHOs that kicked off Marathon Weekend by racing in the 4th Annual BAA 5K. Close to 6000 people ran in this event that circled Boston Common (finding the one hill in downtown Boston!) and finished at the historic Boston Marathon finish line to screaming crowds! A big thanks to NACHO Cheerleaders Jaime and Brian for getting up early and giving their support, and a HUGE Congrats to Jon for crushing his PR! Must have been the new NACHO singlet!!

Marathon Sports City Run: Cambridge, MA

A big congrats to an awesome group of NACHOs who kicked off the spring road racing season with the Marathon Sports City Run. In it's 26th year (who knew?!), this event featured a hilly course (especially the last mile!) around Fresh Pond. The nice scenery paired with great weather made this an excellent way to welcome in the Spring!

Shiver by the River 10K

Mary and Patrick Boggs have resolved to run one race every month in 2012. They got a good start at the Shiver by the River in Muhlenburg, PA. Both of them ran the 10K. Patrick equaled his 10K PR of 47:04 while Mary smashed her 10K PR by almost 3 minutes, running a 53:22. They both hope the winter months will provide a good base for the upcoming races later this year.

Marathon Sports Jinglebell 5K: Somerville, MA

A very jolly event for the New England NACHOs (and friends on NACHO!) on a cold and windy morning. A big NACHO welcome to new member Dave Crane who was the first NACHO across the finish line, and a big NACHO welcome-home to Susie who was home visiting from NACHO Midwest! A great race by all, and an awesome post-race party!

O'Hagans 5K run, Auckland viaduct, NZ

It was the first run for a new NACHO in sunny New Zealand. And it was sunny; Auckland harbour was resplendent. It was Peter Smith's first 5K race, and his first rocking NACHO orange. The run (as always it seems) is a little chaotic. It takes place at 18:00 amongst the rush hour traffic around the waterfront—but most drivers know to keep out of the way of the runners (and a few walkers). Peter started out too too fast, but settled into a steady pace and finished with a PR of 20:10 (official), which nearly two minutes faster than his previous PB. He was 19 out of 77 (and who knows how he did in his age group (M50-59).

Always a keen rabbit chaser, when passed by a runner at the 3Km mark he took the opportunity to wind them in, overtake them, and then to stay ahead of them.

What was the best part of the race? Aside from the a new PR it was the long cold drink at O'Hagans (an Irish Pub) at the end of the run.

Now he is keen to do a sub-20 5k—how hard can a 10 second improvement be—so he plans to be back soon.
