This race always brings out the crazies...paging all Cambridge NACHOs! Running down Massachusetts Ave with unbridled NACHO-enthusiasm, 7 (plus Amelia!) athletes traversed the flat and fast 5K course with little wind resistance due to their spandex getups. With jeering cheers from Pete, the team ran well fueled by candy corn and the carbs from the previous night’s beer. Welcome to Jeff, making his NACHO debut! Check out the photos!

BAA Half Marathon : Boston, MA
On Sunday, 10/10/10 (!) Jess (running under Henrichs for the first time!), Jason, Dave and Anne competed in the BAA Half Marathon over a chilly, hilly and beautiful Boston course. Dave, running in the NACHO uniform for the first time, accessorized with his CHI Bears hat (a shoutout to the CHI NACHO chapter?). Anne ran a PR, and Jason tore up the course despite a broken toe! Inspired by the enthusiasm of the team, friend of NACHO Jaime quickly emailed Pen Gwen soon after finishing to join this competitive team! Brian volunteered with the CRC and looks forward to running with the team soon. Check out the photos!

1st Annual MS 5K Bur-Run : Somerville, MA
The Burren, a Somerville Pub, put on the 1st Annual MS Society 5K on a chilly Sunday morning. This was a great event for the NACHOs to combine their nacho-ness with supporting one of their favorite charities - the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The race was a success - 206 walkers/runners and 1 dog completed the HILLY 3.1 mile course. That dog was new NACHO member, Catcher, visiting all the way from Columbus OH! Susie and Catcher (clad in NACHO orange) ran the course in a very respectable time, earning cheers and praise from many spectators! Brian and Anne covered the course quickly as well, with Anne finishing 3rd in the open division! Great job everyone!

Jerry Garcia 4.2M : Cambridge, MA
Krista, Anne and Brian got together on a sunny Thursday night in Cambridge to go through the motions of running 4.2 miles to justify free beer and BBQ. Yay, the NACHOs love these races!

Jim Kane 5 Miler : South Boston, MA
The NACHOs had a great showing at this South Boston gem. Curt had his first race in the NACHO uniform and ran well, proudly representing the team. Anne ran a strong race, and found out later that night that she was the winner of the Athena division, earning her a big trophy! Yay! And Krista, Anne and Curt were interviewed by fivi.com...can’t find the video online, hopefully the team sounded and looked good! Great job everyone! Check out the photos!

Will Speck Memorial 5K :Cranston, RI
Happy father’s day! For a second year in a row, Anne was able to drag her Dad, Joe to a land-based NACHO event. Joined by sister Mary and husband Patrick, and friend of NACHO Arlene, the team had a good showing at the Will Speck Memorial 5k. Anne, Mary and Patrick were a little tired from dancing late into the evening the night before, but managed to do okay despite the sore feet and blistering temperatures. Great job team!

Narrow River Turnabout Swim : North Kingstown, RI
Joe, Brian and Anne dove in to this 1 Mile open water swim challenge on an early Saturday morning in June. Joe, as one would expect, had no problem with the swim, and easily cruised to a competitive finish. Brian struggled a bit, not having swam much recently due to fall marathon training, but finished strong soon after Joe. Anne was thrilled to have survived the event, and looks forward to more land-based opportunities in the future. (ps - Kudos to Brian for immediately transitioning into a 14 mile run at the end of the swim!)
