Congrats to the NACHO AC members who braved the cold for the Super Sunday 5 Miler in Cambridge, the race that preceded the Patriots Win!!! We were a little apprehensive to make our way to the starting line...
But we did it! 5 miles in the frigid temps!
We set a new record for NACHO......wait for it....
LAST PLACE. LAST! NACHO was 18th out of 18 teams!
Imagine our surprise as we sat at the bar and pulled up the "live" results...Our reaction? Laughter and the ordering of another round of drinks! :-) The scoring was different in this race, where they add up the times of the first 6 runners...not just the top three :-)
We had a great time (after the race) at the bar, the cold temps made being outside a little (okay very) uncomfortable. We quickly ditched the free beer and intelligently found a warm bar.
No matter the finish place, we all had a blast! Congrats everyone!

Yulefest 5K
Wow! What a great event, with our LARGEST NACHO TEAM EVER!! It was a beautiful day to run through the streets of Cambridge for the 4th Annual Yulefest 5K. We had a fast fast team, a lot faster than the times reflect; our fastest runners in the lead pack were directed off course by the lead pace vehicle...they had to backtrack and catch the rest of the field! Oh well, the free beer at the finish line certainly helped their moods!

Halfway to Mardi Gras 5K
Great job to the NACHOs who came out to run the Mardi Gras 5K in Cambridge last night. Kyndal is getting ready for her big marathon on Saturday, so she was able to watch Catherine as Kristen, Maggie and Anne took on the flat, fast course. Great run everyone!

Twist and Shout on the Charles River 5K
The NACHO jungle shirts made their bright debut at the Twist and Shout 5K. The race format is much improved over previous years, with the runners split into 3 waves. Kyndal, Jen and Anne were in Wave 1 and were able to open up and run uninhibited. Congrats to Jen for her first race back post-baby, only 3 months out!!

VERT Sasquatch Results!
Congrats to Team NACHO for finishing 7th out of 40 teams for the VERT Sasquatch race. In a very competitive field, NACHO was led by newcomer Katie Hand, running an impressive 15:57. That's a blazing 6:47 pace over the very challenging 2.35 mile trail! Next across the line for NACHO was another newcomer - Dannon Stacer, finishing right behind her in what must have been a photo finish, 15:57 as well! Jefferson Shaw was the next NACHO to finish, running a quick 16:03. Those NH trail runs in grad school must be paying off! Great job scoring NACHOs! We were very very close to finishing 4th, it was a very tight race!

Freedom Run / National Running Day / What's Up For June?
Happy National Running Day!
Hope everyone's having a good day and getting out there to squeeze a few miles in. This past weekend the Nacho AC crew participated in the Freedom Run at the CambridgeSide Galleria, brought to us by our friends at the Cambridge 5K Series (Craigfest, Oktoberfest, etc.). This was a team event for the crew and we lucked out. Everyone did a great job and we brought home a 3rd place victory - a surprise to most!

June Happenings:
I'm going to let Pen take this one with the email coming out tonight, so keep an eye out for that. Make sure to follow the link at the bottom of the email, so you can fill in all of the races you're entered in for the season. Make sure you've joined the facebook group too because this holds more recent information regarding races.
Also, a final note - there were rumblings this weekend after the Slumbrew team was walking around with super cool coozies / glasses. Would anyone be interested in getting these to be used at future races / drinking events? I'll see what I can find. Just let me know in the comments if you would be interested in purchase.
Thanks,
